Everything to my taste
Eat, drink, play. From getting up to going out: You will find cafés, restaurants, bars and pubs on every corner in this district. And there is sure to be something to suit every taste.
Brunch in the morning, a huge choice at midday: From fresh Chinese cuisine and steaks, places with a cozy, chummy atmosphere, southern state charm, Italian, international and Mongolian through to vegetarian and vegan, you will find a varied selection of culinary highlights. In the afternoon we enjoy home-made cake and pastries with our coffee in endearingly individual cafés or unusual flavors of ice cream, then in the evening we meet up to watch football and call into a bar for a nightcap afterwards. We can try out something new every day here.
Art, culture & curiosities
Industrial culture and a love of football, museums and special exhibition spaces, cinemas and events – Dortmund is full of inspiration. And everything in nearby.
Step out of your apartment and enjoy the fun: With the music festival Kreuz4tel-Live, the street party Stillleben not to mention Kreuzviertel bei Nacht there are cultural events in the immediate vicinity all year round. Other attractions include cinema and theater, concerts, comedy and cabaret, museums and industrial monuments. Whether it is art and creativity in Dortmunder U, everything to do with football in the German Football Museum, cheering on Borussia in Germany’s largest stadium, a coal-mining experience in one of Dortmund’s disused mines, or the DASA Working World exhibition – things are never boring here.
Enjoy the leafy surroundings!
Sometimes even the most attractive district can feel too small and you need to get out to the countryside. Dortmund is luckily one of the greenest cities in Europe.
Anyone wanting to enjoy a longer outdoor excursion can hop on a bike or public transport to explore the many parks and gardens throughout the entire city. The Westfalenpark, Dortmund’s green oasis attracts visitors with extraordinary flora and highlights such as a cable car, boating lake and a mini railway, and all just a five-minute bike ride away. And you can walk to Westpark with its barbecue sites in just 15 minutes. Anyone looking to completely unwind should cycle over to Bolmke Conservation Area which offers you just forest, meadows and peace.
Think Global, Shop Local
Everything shopping devotees could desire: A host of unconventional items, excellent design and personal favorites are to be found in the numerous small stores.
You don’t really need to shop anywhere else: You can find everything you need on a daily basis in the supermarket and organic store around the corner, not to mention out of the ordinary things in unconventional stores. At HEJ, for example, a concept store with lovingly selected products by Scandinavian and German labels. Or check out Unterhaltung Lieblingsstücke, where a colorful but tasteful conglomeration awaits you, from clothing and decoration to craft beer and mustard. Individual items can also be found at Ügo, especially shoes, clothes, accessories and other paraphernalia. And anyone looking for unique interior design items should make for Frachtraum 1 – which sells upcycling- and industrial furniture.
Modern MOBILITy for everyone
There’s no need to look for a parking space; you can park your car in the behome underground garage. But you can also get around easily without a car – by bus, train, bike or car sharing.
Modern mobility is already being practiced here. In your car you can be on the A40 autobahn in just a minute. But car sharing also offers a flexible way of getting quickly from A to B. For getting around town, the underground and bus are your best options as many stops are just a stone’s throw away: It’s just a six-minute walk to the Kreuzstrasse underground station. Walk to Möllerbrücke station (in just 12 minutes) if you want the LRT. And as there are plans for a section of the Ruhr Bike Highway (Radschnellweg Ruhr) is to run through the district, cyclists will be in an even better position in future. Moreover, there’s a metropolradruhr bike-sharing station quite literally on your doorstep. Now what could be more practical than that?
